Stop-Sell and Allotment Management: Controlling Inventory Before the Market Does It for You
An allotment that's still open when you're 95% occupied on the books isn't a distribution strategy — it's a revenue leak.

Stop-sell and allotment management are the mechanisms by which revenue managers control which channels have access to available inventory — and when that access is withdrawn. Allotments are pre-allocated blocks of rooms committed to a wholesaler, tour operator, or partner at a contracted rate.
When demand is strong and the hotel is likely to fill through higher-rate channels, those allotments need to be closed before they absorb inventory that should be selling at BAR. Stop-sell is the broader action of closing a date or rate category across one or more channels to prevent further bookings.
Both require constant monitoring of on-books position against expected demand.
